glove box?

2000 996 - was a glove box (in front of passenger) an option on this car? Can I swap one in from a wreck? Anyone done this?

The glove box didn't appear in the 996 until the 2002 model year. I'm not sure if a retrofit is possible or not...

No. None is needed. You have your door pockets and console. Put your gloves there.

I have a 2001, so it has no glove compartment, which I was a little bummed about when I bought the car. But honestly, in my other cars, the only thing that I ever put in the glove compartment is the owners manual. Anything you put in there slides around and falls out when you open it. Plus, it's a very long reach for the driver. The door armrest compartment is much more useful. Also, since I ordered my car with the standard stereo, I have map pockets instead of door speakers, which is a good spot for sunglass storage. Alabamatoy, if you don't already have the dash cubby, replace your cassette or CD holder with that, which is a great place to put your phone. Last, replace your ash tray with the non-smoker kit, which is another useful storage area, and within easy reach
