Well I found the K&N CAI for $238.90 so I think that's the one I'm going to get, can't justify in my mind spending almost 2x's that for FabSpeed, Evolutio MS, or the EuroCup versions considering the sound is what I'm after.

If you are getting it for power gains, you'll probably be disappointed. You may get 5hp which can't really be felt. MAF sensor on 996 fails often even with stock setup and i would not take the chance.

K&N will give you more engine sound. That's probably the upside over stock.

Stock filter has a huge surface area. That's why I left mine stock.

I disagree about the MAF sensor malfunctioning because of the K&N filter. Here is a article from K&N talking about that. http://www.knfilters.com/MAF/massair.htm And yes the stock filter has a bigger area because its a much thicker paper it needs that area to disperse the air coming in, if the stock filter was the size of the K&N, the engine would be robed of air. It would suffocate. I think the K&N is a great mod. I have not done it my self cause the cheapest I found it for was $336 from auto parts warehouse. http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/se...old+Air+Intake In my opinion that is a little to much to spend on an air filter system I would rather save that money for an exhaust system.

I'm glad the OP found what he's looking for. Can we maybe just have one location for the "K&N is great, no it's not" responses? Every time someone posts anything about K&N it starts all over again. Millions use them and love them. Others don't. Maybe we can leave it at that.
