Fabspeed carbon intake on its way, what can I expect?

So I ordered a fabspeed intake from vividracing. I was looking for sound quality and power. The fabspeed is supposed to add 22 dyno proven horsepower. So far, my 03 C4S is a stock 6 speed. Has anyone installed one of these? I love to work on things myself and am mechanically inclined. So what are your experiences with this intake? Thanks in advance.

You prob won't notice much change except for intake sound without changing out your exhaust and getting an ecu re-flash.

So basically, based on your opinion, I can only expect a little increase in engine noise, no feeling of increased power, and it's over priced. Sounds like I made a bad purchase

I am planning on enjoying this car for a long time and would like to do headers and exhaust soon too. Thanks for the input so far. I hope that I get some different opinions.

To be fair most modifications for our cars with the exception of a turbo or supercharger do precisely the same thing. What's important is that your making the car yours by changing things on it and that you appreciate the improved exhaust note.

I can't comment because I haven't done this mod. I'm looking forward to hearing what you think after it's installed.

Thanks for following. I'll definitely keep you updated. I'll take some pics of the install too. I'm sure it won't be very complicated.

Hey, it will look cool. As someone said not much that can be done to our na engines that Porsche has not already short of forced induction. Mt 40th AE has x51 kit which makes extensive mods (heads, ECU, headers, etc...) and costs a bunch of $$ for all of 25hp over stock na

I wouldn't call it a bad purchase, just don't expect any noticeable increase in performance and just enjoy the new sound of your exhaust

Best bang for the buck....ECU flash and 200 cell cats. (about $2K) I've tried a lot of things, all a waste of money. The only 2 performance mods left in my car are the ECU flash and Cell Cats. If you need more power, save up for a Turbo or GT3. I am not a big fan of bolt on Turbos or Superchargers....they cost about $13K installed and have no resale value.

See sig, best was custom tune, mufflers for sound and cats and SSK. Noticed no gain with plenum or air box pieces (but good sound). Coilovers were the best mod and together with the above the car now feels very responsive and more exciting, like a Porsche should.

Thanks for the input everyone. I don't have a company that's close to me to do a tune but I did have the plenum and softronic tune on my cayman S last year. I installed it myself (wasn't frustrating at all).

It looks like I'll be deciding on a tune and 200 cell cats before long. Thanks again.

I don't think it was a waste of money at all....it's a nice piece.

I am a certified victim of the mod bug.

My car has CAI, headers, 200 cell cats, Giac re-flash and AP Mufflers.

Like GTRR said above, only real gains came from the cats and re-flash.

Enjoy!

Fabspeed intake

D1 I'm very happy with my intake, you will def get some great sound when on the pedal. Take your time and intall all the parts correctly. I reversed a washer and the buzzing was driving me crazy until I figured it out. Once I have some extra cash I hop to do the re-flash. Maybe over the winter, once the snow hits. Let me know what you think.
