Help needed with Sat Nav issues please

First off would like to say "hello" , great site, full of friendy experts.

Need help with my Sat Nav and clock.

Would be very grateful for any guidance - help with my problem
Have a 2003 (2004 model) 996 C2 man with pcm2 in the UK

When we were on hols in Somerset i set the Sat nav to get us home, within a few miles the displays kept on comming up with "off road"
Thought it was just a glitch, took the satnav cd out, left the car for two weeks. Went to check the car last Sunday and its still the same, the car still thinks its in Somerset - according to the map, I can put a destination in and the car calculates it as if its still in Somerset.
Have tried 148 to reset, then I thought i would disconnect the battery, so undid the negative lead and tha alarm went off, put the lead back on and the alarm stopped, by this time I was fed up and thought I will reset the clock and have a drink, reset the clock but now the time does not change.
The clock in the dash is there as well as the one in the Pcm but the the displays do not change!
Any advice would be great, my blood pressure is off the scales with my pride and joy not working
Many thanks
Jonathan

I would try disconnecting the battery again. Positive side first then the negitive. Try honking the horn or turn on the lights to pull any stored power. Then reconnect the neg and then pos.
