Fresh paint ...road trip next week to Florida!
I got the 911 back today with a fresh paint job $5,300 from a reputable area shop (insurance covered all bout $1,000 of it). It looks brand new, I was so excited last night I took some pictures at a local forest preserve.
I'm driving down to Florida next week to sell it. It's been exactly 6 months since I bought it in March. Hopefully next March I'll be posting pictures of a 997!
I hate letting it go but I know I won't drive it much during Chicago winter, literally everytime I drove it it was enjoyable. Huge smile on my face while rowing through gears, even in rush hour traffic at times. I think there have been maybe 2-3 times in the last 6 months while I haven't been smoking a cigar in it...and guess what, since cigar smoke doesn't "seep in" it smells just like the day I bough it. (No I didn't advertise it as smoke free haha!) But that's just how I enjoyed the car, and yes I drove it literally like I stole it as much as I could. I think my neighbors will be glad that I'm selling it.
A little about the car:
19" 3 piece HRE wheels
Lowered 1" on H&R Springs
78k miles (got it with 62,500)
Muffler bypass
While I owned it the last 6 months I have replaced the coolant expansion tank & oil pressure sender ...in addition to oil & filter every 3-4K miles. It's as reliable as my Toyota Tacoma with 150k miles on the clock.
I parked next to a 997 Turbo yesterday and took a crappy pic.
Btw, I have to reinstall the headlight washer caps.
Enjoy!

Thanks for the tip Phatchitc4s! I'll put a 1/4" of wax all over the car! hahaha
I don't wanna ruin new paint!
I'm excited...probably will make a pit stop overnight in Atlanta.

Sorry to see you letting it go but excited to see the new 997 in the spring. Enjoy the trip and make the most of it. The pictures look great, the body shop looks like they did a awesome job.

Why the new paint job, especially when you're selling the car? I'm sure there's a story I don't know that's been posted on here...
Enjoy the road trip. Which route are you going to take? I love taking long road trips in the 911. I've done two long trips so far in mine, one of 2000+ and one of 1000+ miles. Enjoyed both of them immensely!

I'll be taking the most direct route from Chicago to Stuart, FL a little north of West Palm Beach. I purchased the car in the same area so I made the drive from Florida to Chicago back in March...now it's getting a return trip. I love the part of the drive through the Smokies with elevation changes and curves. I've probably made the drive around 10 times in the last 3 years. I-65 to I-24 to I-75 then to the East Coast of Florida.
For my trip I have an iPod full of Joe Rogan podcasts, 2 boxes of cigars and a lot of Red Bull! This will be my first trip making a long drive alone. I'll be meeting up with a buddy who also has a 996.
Nice paint job! From my understanding, you should not wax the car for about 2 weeks (maybe 4?) to let the new paint cure properly. Please correct me if I am wrong.
