I changed a busted bulb today and had to remove the right side headlights assembly. I discovered a cable attached to the hood latch (not the cable that opens the hood latch though). Please see the picture below. What is it for? Any ideas where the other end of this cable is attached to?

 

Looks like it might be the emergency hood release cable. It just goes to a loop that you can pull on from the passenger side fender well if the hood release actuator fails.

Yes, that is what it is. I would move it to the tow hook hole for easy access in case of emergency.
