If so:
1) are you passing smog checks in CA?
2) how's the sound quality (ie volume, droning, etc.)

I just deleted my mufflers on my 3.4l and it sounds pretty amazing. Going to be making some fine tuning tweaks over the next week, but the drone is very minimal. You shouldn't have to worry about smog checks bc all the emissions part of the car has to do with the cats. The mufflers are only there to quiet the exhaust system.

Only difference is that in CA the inspector is required to visually inspect your exhaust system and you will not pass..

I've looked into Fister D exhausts and love what they have to offer, but what I'm really looking for is something with high volume (like 997 gt3rs volume) ; thus resorting to the bypass. Unless, there's a company out there that produces an exhaust thats at that volume.

bypass pipes

I had the fabspeed by pass pipes on my 996. Let me tell you they are super loud. I had to put back the mufflers because I couldn't drive the car from more then an hr without ear plugs. I guess if I were tracking in a place where noise isn't a problem I'd go back. You will loose bottom end HP, but your top end will improve.
Beware my 2 cents.

Hi flybye:

Would you happen to have any videos of the fabspeed muffler bypass?

Regarding the low end HP, I've heard from many that the car will lose bottom end hp, but fabspeeds dyno graph says differently...https://www.fabspeed.com/dyno53.html

Let me know what you think.

Muffler bypass is a total misnomer.

They are not bypassed, they are removed and deleted.

My car had them installed when I bought it.

It was way too loud for me....and I like loud. Sounded like a fart can Honda, not a classy Porsche.

It deffinately robs bottom end torque.

If you want super aggressive, check out the Afterhours exhaust, but the haveva drone spot.

Jmo

Rocking the afterhours exhaust myself. Amazing sound but you do pay a slight drone penalty when climbing. Highway has very little drone.

Hi B8. Do you have videos of the afterhours exhaust. The afterhour exhaust is my alternative to the muffler bypass, they seem to be quite similar in volume.

It sounds pretty awesome! It's definitely loud but not obnoxious. I still have a bit of tweaking to do before I do any sound clips.

You're the first person that had positive feedback about the bypasses, you're my hero
