2000 M roadster with a SC ? Is that a s52 or 54? Either way, I would agree with Byprodriver and keep the roadster. Nice car.

very nice, you must know my friend Dion if you frequent the Bimmer forums, he has same model color as you do.

Since you have a 6yo I understand the backseat. I have little ones too and they ask if we can take the red car out.

Check the car out. If you like it, go for it, but like any used car, get ready for the unexpected.

If its possible for ya to keep the BMW, I'd keep it too!!

I think this is typical of all dads with young children and 911 models. Mine has a fit and cries if we have to take the wagon instead of the Porsche. LOL

This is also one of the reasons why I went with a 996 over an NSX which I was looking for initially.

I understand about your Z06, even if it's a fun car, it would be more pleasurable ride to have the rest of the family onboard.

Ok.. update... had the car checked out. Clutch was replaced. slave cylinder and rms were done. Oil was changed. Brakes checked and brake fluid flushed. Coolant system flushed.
Now the problems. Well not really. Rear tires are pretty worn but he is deducting that amount and they find a tiny bit of oil in the coolant reservoir. Mechanic said it could have been there for a long time.
Found no noises in the engine. No oil leaks. No smoke on start up.
Should this be a major concern for me? Is there anythibg else this mechanic should look for? Thanks

I will let the gurus speak to the small bit of oil in the coolant, of course we worry about cracked heads,etc...

Sounds like the car is a pretty solid deal with the clutch & RMS done. That's a comforting remark from the mechanic regarding the IMS, I wonder how likely it is to fail at 120k,140k,etc...

Yea those are good tests to depict the health of the motor. For a few hundred bucks the comprehensive PPI is well worth the peace of mind. It's also like a home inspection as you can keep taking $$$ off the asking price for things that need to be fixed.

Ok, well sounds like a nice deal, Now as I mentioned before the IMS (as stated) would have failed many miles ago, and to be up front the % of failure is low. Spend $200 and get a full PPI, and have them cut the filter open to check for metal, if there is none as I suspect the IMS is solid, keep the oil changed, every 5k or six months.
The oil in the coolant could have been caused be the oil/water separator but since the system was flushed you should be fine.
All in all sounds solid, everything here sounds routine.
One last thing, if this car has been sitting for a long period, drive it! don't be afraid the take it to 6k - 6500k rps after she's warmed up, these engines are designed to rev high. Just remember to NOT take it over 3k rpms until she is warmed up, no exceptions.

FLA - Some great insight here, as a future P buyer this is very helpful. I plan on daily driving mine so I will probably purchase one with 80-100k mi so I hope to be post IMS issues. The car will definitely see near redline everyday as it should after being warmed up.

It's just me but ... ANY oil in the coolant would kill the deal for me!! It should not be there AT ALL!!
