Dectane lenses

Hey guys,

I posted about losing a rear lens a while back and recieved 4 PMs stating that the same happened to them. I lost the right rear lens and have a driver side in perfect condition if someone needs one.

I thought id write this tonight before putting this in the sales section.

From what i have heard, the other guys lost the right side as well.

Send me a PM

It just fell out? Sounds like a design flaw...

Good morning Dennis,

I have a feeling it is the bolts sent with the lenses. They dont seem to torque solid. When you get them snug, it has that feeling of stipping and you dont go any farther in fear of it being the lens giving way.

It fell out while my wife was behind me and i was able to pull over and save it while the wiring harness kept it off the ground. The 2nd time i wasnt as lucky... 45mph in a bumpy subdivision road did the trick. the bolt backed out again, the lens slid out and the wire connection broke apart. Thank to a 6k lb SUV, it died.

I wonder if some Loctite or a similar product would help to keep the bolt from backing out...

Wonder if anyone has made Dectane aware of this problem?

Dectane is aware of it. I ordered another set because i was 100% satisfied with the quality of product. I was smart this time and DID use loctite and a torque washer.

strange, i noticed that the new bolts they gave fit kinda tight and wouldnt go all the way in so I also reused the stock ones.... threaded in alot better. I will check mine to see if they are still tight but I've put some miles on the lights in all kinds of conditions with no ill effects... maybe reusing stock bolts is the key?

Man this makes me feel bad for you. Did the seller work something out with you? Or maybe Dectane. The least they could do is get you a set at cost.

Thanks for giving everyone the head's up. I plan on ordering a set and will reuse the stock bolts and add a lock washer.

I hope everyone who buys a set is aware of this. Senseless if anyone else loses a lens.
