Cat Help
Cat Help
I have had a check engine light on for 9 months in my 996 because of a bad Cat. I have been letting it go since I didn't have to inspection in WA for every two years. However, in April my time is up and I need to get new cats. Since the car is pretty much used for tracking purposes and occasional drives, I have been looking to see what my options are. The DME by the dealer says that Bank 2 Efficiency Fault which I am assuming means replace. Which Cat is it? Or should I replace both. Should I do OEM? Also looking at doing Gundo hack while things are apart. Since I have put a ton of money into this car this season, I want to keep the budget relatively low. THoughts?
Not sure if Washington has both sniff test and OBD test.
Mine is only OBD and half the technicians are pretty relaxed about it unlike California.
If you get upgraded ECU, they can turn off or turn down the sensitivity settings for the cat, thus eliminating your CEL light to come on due to it.

I also got engine check mark last night and then went dealer what was problem.
mine also got two catalytic converters fail and they estimated price $3,175
my car has lots of modification already and i decided to get aftermarket one.
