Being from Canada is exactly why I understand that hence the reason i said that i was putting the winter tires and rims on. Which i did today. Makes a big difference. I dont like the psm though so that gets turned off. The winter tires made a big difference. Warmed up today though and melted most of the snow on the roads so ill have to wait until the next dump to try it again. If we get a big dump i have a few other vehicles to drive which are true 4x4s so the P will be for normal driving days. If the roads get too rough or we get a big dump Ill just leave the car in the garage.

That will be a personal preference. Im old school and hate nannies. I dont like abs, stability control etc etc. i love sliding the car around. Ive seen videos of C2's with good winter tires on them and they are fine. The biggest thing will be if you get a deep snow fall and you are plowing lots of snow. They are fairly low but there lots od cars on the road that are daily drivers and just as low. Put a good set of winter grips on and try the car out with the psm on. If you dont like it just turn it off.

Hard to understand why a canadian would drive a car in the snow on the street with summer tires. As far as I know, your laws require winter tires. Your post leads to believe that the C4S is inadequate.

Read my other posts. I tried it once. It sucked. Winter tires went on that night. There is only 1 province in all of Canada that requires winter tires by law. Quebec passed that law in 2008. No other provinces have followed. Not yet anyway. We have a heavy snowfall warning for tomorrow so ill get to try out the c4 again in the snow soon.

My 2003 C4S is fantastic in the snow! From stop it goes up a 20%+ inclined Cobble stone roads with a foot of fresh snow! You do need "snow" tires though, as added by another member. There's an old saying, "There's no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing", this goes for the C4 models in the snow with all weather or summer tires Porsches are always tail happy, so snow only accentuates that a bit, esp. with PSM turned off or without proper snow tires. Otherwise, you can make the tail swing out in the snow if you want pretty much the same as you can in any other car. Enjoy the snow covered roads!

winter tires for temps

Winter tires are needed for the temperature drop, even if there is no snow.

Your tires are the part that actually sticks to the road, not the AWD. If its too cold for the tires to stick, it won't matter how complex the AWD system is. Eventually the tires will break traction or behave unpredictably.

I guess I should have updated this. We had another dump of snow. Car works great with the snow tires. I turn the pdk or psm or whatever its called off. Way more fun. The only thing it doesnt like is deep ruts as it hits the underside. I left it home for a day after the storm until they plowed the roads. Been driving it every day since. Having the hardtop on helps too as now i have rear defrost and can actually see out the back. Oh ya. Added heated seat warmers too.
