Spark Plugs....?

I will be perfoming a 30K mile service on my new car when it arrives. As it will be due for one in a few thousand miles... I feel more comfortable chanaging the fluids now so I know what is in there. Anyway...

Which Spark Plugs do you guys find work the best for the 996? I used NGK Iridium plugs in my 968 and loved them.

I would imagine most of the tune up type products carry over...

Also your thoughts...

I have always used these two fluids... Any words of wisdom?

Super Blue Brake fluid?
Mobil 1 15W-50?

I am a Boxster guy, but I think the plugs on a 2001 996 are changed at 60k miles. Jeff

Nothing wrong with that, except the service interval for plugs is 60K. Look on page 4 of your maintenance book. Only turbos and GT2s get 30K plug changes.

Plug changes are a way that your dealer takes your money without using a gun.

Plugs are cheap and my hourly rate outside the office and in the garage is cheap! Well until I F'something up then I pay double... But seriously any preference in plugs...I know someone on this board has anylized the **** out of the different molecular structures of spark plugs....

Also Oil Preference? I have always used Mobil 1 15W-50... But in the 996 do I need to change?

When I was ready to change my plugs I looked around for a 'better' plug and spoke to the shop foreman at my local dealer who is a friend. I am not into the hype and marketing. I put in the recommended plugs, as they had worked fine until it was time to change them.

Mobil One 15W-50 was an approved oil. Then a few years ago Porsche took it off the list. For the Mobil synthetic brand it is now 0-40, 5-40, and 5-50. A few months ago Porsche came up with an 8 page list of approved oils for all markets. I still use 15W-50 even though it is off the list, and it is the only oil my 1997 Boxster has seen. Jeff
