Spoiler extended

I've had my 996 for a few weeks and today when i put it back in the garage the spoiler was down. Checked the mail and came back and the spoiler was up. The engine was hot but when I shut it down the gauge read 180 dead on. Can this extend in its own due to heat?

+ 1 ditto that. I am surprised your speedometer isn't stuck at 75mph. It appears electrical to me. Given that thought, has your ignition switch been giving you any problems lately...harder to turn, key getting stuck?? You would be surprised to know how much havoc a malfunctioning ignition switch will present. Good luck.

Baffled. I've never heard of it doing that at all, sounds like an electrical gremlin.

If it's been more than six hours, you should call your Porsche doctor.

Well it worked as normal today on the way to work. I guess I'll keep an eye on it. Nothing else has been acting up.

It's not too often you walk up on a Porsche with the spoiler up.

Could you have accidentally kicked the manual spoiler switch when getting out with your feet?

If not, a hot girl probably walked by but probably not too hot since your car didn't drop any oil or coolant underneath.

I don't think so plus I think it was down when I walked away from the car.

No I don't think a hot girl walked but or I would have noticed.
