I have a set that I had done locally that I'm not using.

They were modified like the Porsche Sport mufflers just without the cut out valve.

Pipe wlded into the exit from the knockout plug.

I can send you a pic when I get back home.

Ok, please send pics and pricing. I assume they fit a 2002 996 C2 as well?

With this "mod" you are talking about - is this like the Fister pipe mod?

Brian,

The PSE-mod is different than the Fister-mod. The Fisters will be louder than the PSEs, and the PSEs will be louder than stock. I've had both; the PSE had a nice sound on acceleration while remaning much closer to stock idle/cruise. The Fisters are hardly loud at idle/cruise, but the increase is noticeable over stock.

Thanks, BReif61. I'm open to even a stock set of mufflers. The Magnaflows sound sweet but won't work for cruising at 65-80mph on the highway for more than 30 minutes.

Brando? I'm interested in moving on this quite quickly. Or even just buying your used ones outright.

Sorry, I am traveling on business and won't get back home until Sat.

I also may need to go to Raleigh soon.....

Do the Magnaflows drone?

I am running the Agency Power mufflers right now.....could be a little more aggressive.

It's funny - around town, even at 2500-3300 RPM, no drone. On the highway, though, right around 70-80mph, they seem to drone a bit and seem much louder than around town. I can't put my finger on why.

Fister modifies them so that you have a partial muffler bypass. There is a pipe welded between the muffler inlet and outlet, so some of the exhaust completely bypasses the muffler. This is a slightly different approach than the "gundo hack" that mimics PSE by welding a pipe between the knockout plug and the exhaust outlet. This hack bypasses one of the three muffler chambers, not the entire muffler.

I have Fisters on my C4S and they are fantastic. Increased sound, nice deep rumble at idle and great at WOT. They do not drone at all.

You might consider buying a set of unmolested 996 mufflers and having them modified. You could then install them and sell your aftermarket mufflers to recoup some of your investment in the Fisters.

I don't think the 99-01 mufflers fit 02-05. Anyone know for sure?

Pic (sorry, it's all I have) of the Magnaflow:

They'll fit but the sound characteristic(especially on modified cans) can sound a bit different. Some are very particular to the mk2 cans while others are indifferent.

Good to know, thanks. I think currently I will just try to find some stockers to buy so I can swap at will. I really love the way the Magnaflows sound so I'm not sure I want to lose that option.
