Looking to get these pads to reduce dust on the wheels.

Can someone recommend a good place to buy them? And can someone confirm that they don't squeal like a pig?

These BBS style wheels are more work to clean, so it will be a big improvement to go dustless...

I installed the mintex red box on my fronts with OE in the rears after purchasing mesh style wheels.

Love them, low dust, no squel...you will be happy

 

Who makes those wheels, they look good?

 

These are BBS LM replica wheels in 18" by 8.5" by 10" from a company called Highline Wheels (www.hlwcorp.com).

They sell them on ebay. A few forum people seem to have them.

They are awesome for the money. I think I paid like $800 or 900 for the set of 4 shipped. Sometimes they are even less on e-bay.

The rear offset is very aggressive (like 48mm), which is a lot. So much so, that I had a machine shop shave about 4 or 5mm off the mounting plate (which does not compromise the strength in anyway) before I even had tires mounted on them. That was another $70 for 2 wheels.

But the big thing, is that to make it look right, a bigger rear tire is needed. Yep, I thought a bigger tire would be worse, but I have Sumitomo 285/35/18's on the back and it was a huge improvement visually over the 265/35/18 Conti's that came with the car. The bigger tire helps it to look more integrated with the wheel well to the point that it looks perfect. I wouldn't want the offset any different now. Nor does it get close to rubbing, and I haven't rolled the fendors.

The Sumitomo 235/40/18 balances out the front perfectly. Although I may put a 5-6mm spacer on the front...

The side skirts that I just added helped the look too.

They are the 18" Competition II. Althought they didn't call them that when I bought them 6 months ago. They called them BBS LM wheels.

I guess they got in a little trouble for the BBS thing... They are exact replicas. If you look at a pic of the BBS wheels on their site, you'll see what I mean. They don't look very much like the Competition II wheels that Porsche puts on their cars. Those don't have a deep dished lip like the LM's.

PRH, do you know if the rear turbo OEM wheel (Wheel Size Front: 18" x 8" 50mm offset; Wheel Size Rear: 18" x 11" 45mm offset ) can be ground to make it fit on a 99 C4?

I am very sure the answer is no. I trial fit a set of those turbo wheels to my car and they stuck out more than an inch on each side.

The machinist said he can't go past the bottom of the conical screw holes and he doesn't even like to face off those holes. Although, I think you could face them off because the newer 911's are hub centric and there's a lot of metal in the cone for the screws to hold the wheels to the hub.

But even if you did face them off, you would only gain at the absolute most about a 1/2" which is not going to fix the offset of turbo wheels. You are looking at an equivalent 32.3mm offset compared to stock 18x10 wheels, and you need to be around 50mm for them to fit, and you just won't be able to get there...
