You should drive to the Police station, then take the bumper plugs out and reinstall with the bumper plugs as plate holders, then tell the cop to look at it and then take it off after he writes you off

GT-Racer: Do you live in or around the Bay Area? I swear I saw you on 680 once.

The 928 frame is the exact same sizeas the 996, only metal. You will need to reuse your 996 spacers though, as the 928 ones seem to be at a different angle.

How much is the ticket? I thought it was only $35. If so, it might be worth it to pay the fine and be done with it.

i don't think that is an option. i thought that when you get a fix ticket, you have to fix it.

i would be pretty pissed off if i could've simply paid the fines. do you know how many times in the past i have removed tinted front windows for inspection, and put them back right away!

My ticket in San Jose a few years ago was $10 if I provided proof of correction by having the back of the ticket signed off by a police officer, or $66 if I did not have proof of correction.

I was supprised it was not a mandatory correction.

In the old days you just had it signed off and it did not cost anything, but the County figured out another way to make money.

I know some places are very strict on the front plates, but I don't think So Cal is one of them. I've been pulled over numerous times w/o ever a mention of the plate. Seems you got unlucky.

Don't hurt the looks of the car by resorting to always keeping that ugly plate as it is a rare occurrence

I got a no front license plate ticket at the starbucks around the corner from LUCENT a few month ago. The fine was $35 without any request to fix it. The painted bumper plugs remain intact.

i think when you get a ticket from the parking people, you don't have to fix it, and the fine is usally less. but when it comes from LAPD..... not so easy.

i would love to pay the 35 dollars instead of the pain of installing front license bracket, the time, replacing the bumper plugs..

sucks!!

Does anyone make a facsimili picture of your plate to just stick on? I have tried velcro and you still have the problem with the stuck on velcro looking ugly and the plate falling off and they are exspensive to replace. I am sneaking around without my front plate since I put the GT2 bumper on but I know it is just a matter of time. I have taken my nice gold plate frame and curved it to the shape of the bumper and thought I would put it up against the bumper without the shims from Porsche and use just the two upper holes then plug them until caught. Bummer, Will

My officer friend explained to me that in CA there's usually a little box next to the offense on the ticket. (forgot what the box is called)

If the box is not checked, then it's just a regular fix-it ticket which will cost you $10 upon inspection.

If it is checked, then you will have to pay a much more significant fine, but then you DON'T have to get the infraction inspected at all. Usually they only check the box if they feel like being a jerk and giving you a big fine. I've had to deal with both scenarios.
