12v Power outlets????

Am I missing something or did Porsche forget to put power outlets in my 996? Since I smoke I like having a lighter but dont like taking the lighter out for the radar detector or other items. Any Suggestions on what type of add-on power outlets all of you use. Thanks

Most people hardwire their radar detector in. Under the Radio/PCM you will find a lose 3 pin connector for the phone. That will give you 12v always, 12 volt with key on, and ground. Some have even use this to power another lighter socket that they mount in the passenger foot well.

I think I will order the Cayenne power outlet and use the switched lead and ground on the connector you mentioned. Do I need to pop the radio head to get to it or can I get at the lead another way? Thanks for the info.

Should be able to just take off the drivers side panel and then see the lose connector.

Actually an exploded diagram of the phone pin would be great if available.
Thx

IIRC green with black stripe was switched hot and brown was ground. 2nd pic shows the connector you are looking for.

Function12, the above was just what I needed, as my cable had 4 wires and I was just about to post a question on what each wire did. Thx a million!

I ran my V1, LI, and Homelink (garage door opener) all for that source. You would have to see what your current draw is on the lights.
