Probably the fluid of the hydraulics pump is low. Do a search here or in rennetch. There is a DIY to refill it. Easy.

Sounds like you're out of fluid. It's most likely leaking from one of the pistons. I went about 2 years with filling the fluid before i just changed the pistons. Doing the fluid is very easy and i had it down to getting it done in about 10-15 min. There is a great DIY on Renntech. The pistons were pretty easy to change but i had to go to porsche to get the top to close correctly (computer was out of synch )

As mentioned above, most likely low on fluid or possibly fluid is bad or leaking. Rarely bad or failed motors. Not to worry, easy to check. Take a look at our instructions for troubleshooting here: 996 Convertible Top Mechanism Repair

Here's a pic of the mechanism once you have accessed through the panel:

Hope this helps! Mark/Pelican Parts

Where did u get the pistons redone? I have one leaking for a year but all I have to do is fill up once a year. So far.

I ordered used ones offline and changed them in my garage. It's an easy job but, had to go to the dealer after to get everything synched up again.
