Painting or replacing seat adjustment plastic

Has anyone replaced or reprinted the plastic around the electric seat adjustment on their 911. Darned plastic is all scratched up on driver and passenger side and looks like hell.

I think I would contact LA Dismantlers, or any one of many junk yards with a connection to the national junk yard system and buy some in like-new condition and replace them. However, the value of your time has to be calculated according to your situation. I have seen them wrapped as well and not looked to bad.

Thank you Steve. What does 'wrapped' entail.

Same issue here and you can't buy just the plastic as the controls are part of a single assembly ($ several hundred). I'm interested in a solution as well.

Guess they can be painted after taking the part and electronics out.

To wrap, you would have to purchase (generally 3M) material and wrap the pieces you want in the color/finish you choose. I have wrapped worn parts in other Porsches I've had and they looked great.

Hi 01,

Go to Home Depot and get a can of spray plastidip. The stuff is perfect for your application. Very durable and can be peeled off later if it becomes worn. This is the same stuff guys are putting on wheels and whole cars. Look it up on YouTube.

6 bucks.....easy day.

No affiliation to the product by the way.

Ray . New guy

I ordered 3M series 1080 wrap in brushed titanium. Unit doesn't have to come out and buttons can be worked around. May do the aluminum looking horseshoe piece around the shifter if it turns out well.

Sounds good. Let us know how it turns out. I'd rather not take the unit out either...

I used the leather touch up paint to touch up the plastic around the seat adjustment. Also used the paint to refinish the steering wheel which now looks brand new and fixed a few worn spots on the driver seat. Cleaned with swissvax then stained with leather tech paint.
