The worst kind of ebayer

The seller cancelled the auction right at the very end of a no - resrve auction on the TT cab I was bidding on b/c he did not want to sell it at this price - I was not aware that bids can be cancelled at the last minute like this!

Anyway if you do not want to sell it for less than you want to recieve add a buy it now feature or put a reserve on it darn it -

Just biat and switch bull**** - Here is the auction and spread the word not to bid on this joker's auctions

PS- I even spoke with the seller on the phone today and said that I was the bidder "6speedonline" and since it is a no reserve auction you will sell it even if it is under msrp? The seller said yes - *******

EBAY LINK BAD SELLER TT CAB

Darren,

Sorry to hear that. Now that you've decided a TT Cab is what you want, find one and pay list like the rest of us!

You know, when I first saw the post about you bidding on that car I figured the seller was most likely going to cancel if the bidding didn't reach MSRP or more.

Apparently its a very common thing amongst the Ebay Motors sales for people to put no reserve on to attract more initial bidding, and then if the price doesn't reach a certain level then they cancel. They either claim that they sold the car privately, or that they forgot to place a reserve. You really should think about getting the seller in trouble with either Ebay or his dealership. I would just do it for the satisfaction of messing with him/her. He/She clearly wasted at least a few minutes of your life, you might as well waste his.

Does it really make a difference if you save $1k-$2k on a car that lists for $141k? If you find the car you want as opposed that one that good, but not great, it's worth it.

Instead of cancelling the auction, why doesn't the buyer have a shell step in and pay list?

If I am a car dealer in North Carolina and I advertise a car for sale, can I mislead and defraud the public about that car and my offer to sell it?

If this guy is a dealer, he has higher standards than just John Q. Public regarding his actions.

If he is a dealer, I would burn his *** bigtime.

If he is just John Q. Public, then the EBay rules say he can do this, and annoying as that might be, that is that.

I'm not so sure the ebay rules say he can do this, whether he's a dealer or an individual.

The ebay rules rules prohibit a seller from:

"Significantly misrepresenting an item by not meeting the terms and item description that are outlined in the listing."

So the question is whether he is violating this language. Saying an item has no reserve and then repeatedly cancelling it right before it ends sure seems like misrepresentation to me. To me this is basically the same thing as if he let the auction end and then didn't sell you the car for that price. ebay is big on the message that each auction is a binding contract, and having a dealer constantly represent that it is willing to enter into a contract for a price and then back out is certainly against the spirit of the site.

Sellers do have the right to end auctions because they generally have what are considered to be legitimate reasons. If he did it once or twice, it's imposssible to tell. But if you're right and he does it repeatedly (on the same car), this is easily verifiable by ebay, and you should report him.

Here's the problem -- ebay always favors the sellers. Without sellers, there can be no sale, and it's generally better for them to have people listing. Yes, buyers being happy is important to them as well, but I have always found them to favor the sellers. Thus, even if they agree with you, they are likely to just send the dealer a harmless warning to read their policy. Then again, you never know if you don't try. . . I for one would love to see them burned!

FYI... this tactic is not new. It's very very very very common on eBay for used cars.
eBay is just happy that they are used at all by sellers for cars, and won't do anything to hinder that.

Ebay is great, but what it comes down to is there are so many good honest people on it and there is a good amount of scammers and trick players, just need to filter it out.
