?Engine Whine noise

Does anyone have info on possible cause of a high pitched whine that varies with engine RPM?

I recently purchased a 00 MY C4 Cab 6 speed and the noise is irritating.

If the engine whine comes near redline then it is the imaginary supercharger all 996 NA's have

Its normal.
