Help with easy one.

1999, 911, C2 Cab. I've been going over the new to me P-car for the past number of weeks . . . none of it very easy, but thanks to you guys and online support like Rentech I've managed the fixes and updates. Nearing the end and I need to change the oil and filter, easy right . . . I have any number of filter wrenches, but I thought I'd better use the recommended 74mm, fluted cup version. Went to local parts store and picked up 74mm wrench, went home tried it, found I needed 14 flutes (flats) rather then the 15 flute version. Called the store and they ordered 14 flute version. Tried that and it still would not go the filter housing, just too small across the flats. Flats on housing are 74.4mm something across. What are you folks using to get the filter housing off?? I do not want to crack the housing! Thanks for your help. Larry

just checked...advance auto has it for 5.99
I'm not sure what the "real" size is but i've been using the 76mm for many years without any issues.

Pennzoil manufactures oil filter caps for under $6.00. They range in size from A to D. The D cap (75mm, 14 flute) attached to a 3/8 breaker bar works just fine. Good luck.
