New 911 Key Head; Group Buy??
according to the website, you are just exchanging the guts from your present key to the new shell. This is just like the folks who did this with the CGT key shell, only now it's a shell for 911's
So both buttons (locking/alarm and front trunk) work
No need to re-program
The suncoast website has the info

Morning,
I am very glad to see the 3 page thread about our group buy. We are still accepting orders. If you have not yet secured the purchase? You can do so by going to www.E-partsSALES.com, follow the search link and type in "6speed" in the area. This will take you to the Group buy, key fob page. This can be purchased right from this page. The key fob can also be purchased via the phone at 1-877-923-1700. I realize some have already called. A couple have gotten through, and others didn't. Our phone activity has grown ten-fold over the last couple weeks. I appologize for those calls we might have missed. However, Ric & myself can be reached directly at RKnab@sunsetautogroup.com or ndegraw@sunsetautogroup.com. If there is anything else I can be assistance of, please do not hesitate to let me know. We are currently securing larger quantities of goods. Primarily for group buys. Let us know what else would interest the community. Possibly ROW kits???
Thanks
Noel

To all,
the group buy was posted on Rennlist but pulled because of site rules. There were 8-10 folks who wanted in but may have missed the directions. if you know anyone over there, let them know of suncoast's offer
as always, no affiliation...

Some answers...
Q1. Work on a 1999? I do not think it will work with a '99, at least according to the Suncoast website. I suggest calling ric at Suncoast directly
Q2: How easy it is? Very easy.
Step 1. Pry open the existing key using a flat plade. I used a small srewdriver.
Step 2 lift out the circuit board/battery combo
Step 3. To remove the key blade, use the same screwdriver to lift a small tab on the right side of the plastic shell. There is a small spring. the spring might pop out but just lift the tab. The key blade will pull out of the shell easily
Step 4. Remove the tiny microchip on the left side of the shell. It's about 3/8" long and the diameter of the tip of a ballpoint pen. It just lifts out of it's cradle. This is the chip that lets the car start. Do not forget this step; the car won't start w/o the chip in the key!
Step 5. Assembly:
insert key blade; it will lock in place
place chip in cradle on left side of shell (maybe use something tacky to hold it in place...)
place circuit board in position & click both sides of the shell together
Enjoy the new key; both buttons work as before
no more than 5 minutes once you get the idea of interior layout of the shell
Hope this helps
