Update: Cf Armrest

JUST GOT WORD FROM THE manufacturer of the cf arm rest, i will sending out my own armrest.. to be prototyped, what they need are at least five people for a group buy...

the price they say is around 210-230 canadian dollars roughly it will be around 160-180 us dollars for the cover. i sent him a pic of the 2 pieces of the armrest. the piece that goes up and the small piece on the back of it, i just need to confirm if the price is for the large and small piece or just the large piece only.. and shipping is extra of course..

if anyoneis interested in the group buy please post your name here, we need to get five at least..

this is the list please correct me if i am wrong...

As long as the carbon matches I would be in for sure.... If it does not match it will stick out like a sore thumb being next to the rear console.

the carbon fiber matchingis the most important element here, i have told the manufacturer that and he said he will try to match it perfectly.. he wants to delve it porsche parts, and the arm rest will be the trial piece...

if anyone can send me close up pictures of the center rear console in cf i would appreciate it,

thanks.. joe

Joe.. Where did that second piece come from? I can't picture it in the car... Also is this guy willing to make just one so we can make sure that it is a exact match, or does he want the order for 5 or more first.. I think the only smart way to do this is for him to make one sample first then we get approval from the rest of the guys & myself.. then we give him a order.. We don't want 5 pissed off guys dumping $200 for nothing..

thanks for all your repsonses guys..

the manufaturer is located in canada, the company is called

http://www.carbonfibrefx.com/

I called them yesterday and talked to duane, I believe he is the manager or owner but i am not sure. I have seen numerous pictures of their work and it looks to be top notch...

They want to go into the porsche field of making CF parts.. and they are not out there to rip us off or anything... they want to make quality parts for us, make a profit and not over charge us in any way.

We have to choices i believe either we get a replacement part or a cover, the replacement will cost a little bit more i think, but he still needs to see the actual arm rest to give a better estimate)

Hopefully i'll be able to send my arm rest both pieces , and my carbon fiebr shift **** by wed. or thurs. I need to know if the thweave of the carbon fiber shifter from porsche is the same weave of the rear center console from porsche. I am planning on sending also my cf shifter in order for them to see the quality of the Carbon Fiber from Porsche, and to have them see what the weave looks like on the CF parts.

I told duane that porsche owners are a "meticulous" bunch and he said not to worry since he was a very meticulous person himself. and did reiterate to him that the weave and the pattern needs to be close to perfect as possible.

one thing he was asking me that i was not able to answer him was that if all the weave and pattern on all the center rear consoles the same.

I am attaching a pic of a hood that they did, duane wanted to tell me that they roll the edges on their hoods so that it looks better.

Looks good Joe.. to answer his question about center consoles.. from my experience the pattern of the weave is the same for every Porsche OEM center console
