Porsche has to stop with the mass production mentality, they were never about it until the 996 and Boxster were produced, now with the Cayenne its going to get worse, they wont even commit to a production number on the Carrera GT, its pathetic to ask people to put $50k down on a $440k car and not commit to a number and just build as many as suit demand, and sadly they will sell them.

 

they HAVE committed to 1500 max

 

Porsche's letter to the dealers regarding the Carrera GT states 3 year production run of 500 cars per year, but they dont commit to only 1,500 cars and state they will build to suit demand, as many ordered they will build and with 1250 accounted for as of now and 3 years to go its way to risky for the buyer imo especially with their current values.

What else is 500 * 3 BUT 1500? Additionally, their capacity is limited to only 2/day in 04 (body company is also making Enzo's) and 2.7/day in 05 and 06 by their body making vendor's capacity.

incidentally, i'm hearing 1000 are pre-sold from a few sources and 1250 from others.

 

I know my math, if you read what I said that they say they will build to suit in excess of 1500 is the demand is there, they DO NOT COMMIT to the number, I have read the dealer letter, numbers on body production and all of that is meaningless, if Porsche gets the orders they will build them.

 

Don't worry Jas, there probably aren't 1500 with $500k who are willing to spend it on a CGT anyway.

 

Either way its BS that on a car of this price they wont commit to a production number, its not fair to the customers, they claim to build 2500 Turbos in 2001 and end up building 4000, they claim to build the GT2 for 2002-2003 and improve it and build it for 2004, when will it end is the question?

 

It ended for me. I canceled my Turbo Cab and got a 360 Spider...
