Ouch! Scuffed a wheel
Ouch! Scuffed a wheel
First time in my life I scuffed a wheel against a curb and it had to be on my Porsche! I've heard that Wheel Enhancement in LA does excellent repairs, but the shipping from the East Coast to LA is a bit expensive. Anyone know of a wheel repair specialist on the East Coast that does as good a job, or should I just bit the bullet and pay the exorbitant shipping cost?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Just google wheel repair in your area, many should pop up. Also check with car dealers and detail shops, they will give your local references.

Thanks for all the replies. For some reason, I didn't get any notifications that there were additional replies after mto replied.
There are a huge number of wheel repair shops on LI, I suppose owing to the poor condition of our roads after each winter. Most seem to do an adequate job on leased vehicles that the owner wants to be able to return without getting charged for damage.
In the end, I sent my wheel to Wheel Enhancement in LA, who is not only known for their excellent work, but has been doing this for decades, mostly on Porsche wheels. Given that the list price for my wheel is $1800, I thought it made sense to spend more to get the best repair possible. I had them send UPS to pick up the wheel, thereby taking advantage of their discounted shipping, so round-trip shipping will cost $130 (with tire still mounted on rim).
They're going to re-mount and re-balance my tire as well, so when they're done, all I have to do is bolt the wheel back on. I'll post pictures (before and after) when I get the wheel back (hopefully in a couple of weeks).
