Remote Top for 996 on eBay

I thought that I would bring this deal to light for the benefit of my fellow 996 cab drivers. Before you say it, I know that a deal that to good to be true, possibly is but I won't lose a lot of sleep if something turns out to be bogus since I have the buyer protection program through ebay as well as I paid for it through paypal so I have recourse there as well. I'm thinking that it might be some "old new stock" from a dealer that went out of business or something like that. The guy sells a lot of electronics and has a good feedback rating.

Use your own best judgement.

Cheers
Alan

UPDATE. I received my invoice on ebay and its from Wilhelmy-IT Inc. When I googled it, I got the Mods4cars website. It's the manufacturer.

I just ordered one. We will see. I had one of the earlier versions that worked for a few years then went bad. They said there was a fault in the old style, the new style has a separate power feed, and offered me a 20% discount on a new one. This was a few years ago and I never took them up on the offer. It is a great mod. Hopefully this is the real thing. Maybe it is the old style?

I just checked mine out. It is directly from Mods4cars and it does have a separate pair of power leads.

Forgive my ignorance, but what does this do?
Is it easy to install?

Check out this link to the item, it'll give the full feature breakdown. As for ease of install, I guess that all depends on ones skill level. Alan

OK, so I got pulled in and ordered one....its the real deal, works fine, but the ebay "deal" is now the regular list price for the remote top module.
After poking around on their website, as of June 2, they announced a module that looks like it combines the functionality of the remote top (up/down via remote fob and cabin alarm with top down being the 2 most important) with the regular smarttop (one touch up/down, up/down while moving, etc) into one unit.
Kind of frustrating, as both units used to be the same price, and I thought we found a deal on remotetop (I wanted the interior sensor and fob actuation). I wanted functionality of both, but didn't want to pay full price for both.
Id be curious now if I bought the "revised" module if I would have to remove the remotetop?
Just my $0.02, YMMV

On cabs the key fob has a button you can push to lower and raise the top, this is a replacement module that controls that function. It can also control the locks, and I believe it also will allow you to lock the top so it can't be lowered. I'm sure it does more but I can't remember.

Received my Remotetop and installed it yesterday installed like the old one except with a separate power feed. Works fine and the $129 is much less than it used to be. The new version of the Smart top combines the function of the old Smart top and Remotetop, but my old smart top works just fine so it was less money and work.
