Hey all I'm from Canada eh! First post and first time Porsche owner. I picked up a 99 996 with a blown engine from IMS and I have now put a new used engine in and have been driving the car for a week and so far love it! Tried to post a pic so here goes.

I tried doing it from my cell so I will have to wait till I get home to try again on my PC!

 

Is it stock or has there been any aftermarket work done to the car?

 

 

Oh she's a beauty!!! I'm not usually crazy about the taco wing but I gotta admit it looks sexy on your car!! Congrats on the new ride! She sure will be turning heads

 

Glad you saved the car and gave it a new life. Since you did the swap and must already know the car it should serve you well. Welcome to the addiction.

+1 to Shiftin, agree with everything about the taco wing. I'm not a fan but that looks sweeeet on your ride.

Glad you saved the old girl, curious to know how many miles on her when the IMS went and caused engine failure. Also costs of car with no engine plus cost to fix.

Nice ride. Thanks for saving her. Did you replace the IMSB when you swapped the motor? Would have been easy while the patient was in surgery.

 

She has 220kms on her. I put a new used engine in, the old one was ruined from metal shavings all in the engine from the IMS bearing coming apart.

 

O and this is the third engine in this car that I know of

Should we assume the previous two engines never had the IMS mod?

Would like to think PO's would have learned after the first time.

 

This is going to scare some people but the engine that came with the car that is toast had the LN bearing
