New User, Need Some Opinions
Hi everyone, I'm new on the site however I've been lurking for problably over a year now. I love the site and I am finally about to buy my first porsche after I sell my lorinser MBZ.
I need some advice on something. Do any of you know of the company wickedmotorworks.com? They specialize in totally upgraded porsches but they use salvaged porsches as the base car.
I have about 45-50k to play with. That can problably get a clean low mileage 2000-2001 C2(has to be tiptronic).. But then it will be completely stock and sort of blend in with everything.. for 45K wicked can custom build me a 1999 C2 with about 40000 miles with all the goodies like 02+ headlights/fenders etc, techart front/sides, turbo style rear, 19in gembellas, lowered etc. On the looks, hands down the wicked cars are much more exotic looking and aggressive, sets you apart. But then the car is salvage..
My question is, if any of you have experience of this company please post your opinion of them. Secondly in general what would you guys do in my shoes? 45-50K is the budget. Settle for a stock 2000ish 996 or have the exact car totally modded out, with the 02+ techart look for the same price, but have a salvage title. I would however request that the car had no frame damage and major body damage.
I look forward to your responses, I hope to be a porsche owner very soon!
Danny

Stay away from the salvage title. And what's up with Wicked putting Turbo badges on regular carerras? Also, GT2 badges on Turbos. lol
You can buy slightly modded 2000's or 2001's for that price range. And then modify it as time goes by. My .02 cents

Danny,
I wouldn't do it, salvage title cars are difficult to sell and when they do it's at bargain basement prices.
If you search this site I'm sure you can find a well cared for car (with some mods) in line with your budget.
My .02 cents.
Good luck.

I would pick up a stock 2000 and then put some wheels on it and you will still have enough left over for a new bumper. heck be patient enough and you can find one with wheels and tires for a great deal if your not worried about the mileage. Stay away from a Porsche with a salvage title, unless you are going to use it as a race car.
A guy I know bought an 02 c4 convert. for $25,000 with a salvage title. He needed to get new interior and he bought turbo bumpers and side skirts for it and he is into it less than $45,000

In my early searches for a 996 I contacted wicked to see the car they had available. A great opportunity came when heading back from Hawaii I had a layover in LA. I decided to extend my layover in LA to visit wicked the next day. I made contact with one of their sales personel, (Steve..not 100% sure). I went to look at some of the car they had and observered uneven seems and gaps. I agree with the GT2/Turbo badging just doesnt do it, plus you still have the slavage title clouding over you when reselling.
Welcome to the board.
For $50K you can get an '02 with higher mileage if you look around. Or you could get an early 996 (99-01) with higher mileage for mid 30's and have it converted to the '02+ headlights, plus some other mods, for $10K.
So basically, stay away from the salvage title. You'll never be able to get any money for the car in the resale market, plus you could be buying a lot of problems, even if the car's redone completely.
Why can you only get a tiptronic?
