Spare tire fits rear wheel?

Just wondering if the spare fits the rear wheel? If not, the car would need to be flatbedded if the rear tire blows right? Seems like the rear is blown often so what's the point of the spare which take up trunk space and weight?

Yep it fits, though if you have spacers you need to remove them. I have used it twice in the past year. Once while a rim was being repaired and once when I got a flat. The spare has a very large offset to allow it to fit. Just check the spare tire pressure and make sure it's at spec.

I've use the spare tire on my ex-996C2 couple time at the rear. It will look funny but it works!

Yup, you can use it on any wheel. Just replace it asap!

Thanks, My friend w Boxster had a flat and couldn't use the spare. She and her husband must have failed to put it on correctly. They were stuck in the NV desert in 110 heat for an hour and had the car flatbed. I guess they sold the car afterwards for no reason.

Yep, I bet they had wheel spacers on.... If they didn't it's pretty brainless to use the spare.

When I got a slow leak on my driveway, I didn't even bother to fill it up and drive it to the tire shop (1.5 miles away). I just put the spare on to hold the car and took the tire off and brought it to the tire shop in my Cayenne. Took a whole 5 minutes, actually one of the easiest spare tires I ever used since it's bolt through, not lug nuts.

Yeah, I think it's user error. I wonder why they had issue since Boxster doesn't have spacers. It's sad that most people don't know how to change tires. If people actually pay some attention and prepare for accidents, they would save headache when the inevitable happens.

Just don't drive too fast, it feels like you have no air in the rear tires when you have it on......
