Question Battery Problem?

Hi all:

Took a ride today in my 99 C2 Cab - about 30 minutes, moderate speeds, top down. Parked for 2 hours w/top up, went to leave and car wouldn't start - just a lot of clicking and electronics flashing. Got a jump, drove 30 minutes home, turned off the car and immediately tried to restart it, and same problem. If it was the battery, wouldn't it have charged up while I drived? Any suggestions? It's 85 degrees here today and I've never had any problems starting, and nothing was left on while it was parked.

TIA,

Todd

How old is the battery? What does the voltage gauge indiate when the car is idling? It is probably just a near dead battery unable to hold a charge if the voltage shows around 14. Make sure battery connections are clean and tight. Get a new battery at Costco or Sam's club for $48.

If it is the original battery, time to change it.

BTW, 30 min is not enough to charge the battery. It takes a hour or so of freeway driving to get it charged. If the battery is old, it won't hold a charge not matter how long you charge or drive it.

Thanks - I was worried that perhaps it was symptomatic of something more expensive than a battery. It probably is the original, so I'll swap it out after checking the voltmeter at idle.

This forum is very helpful to idiots like me - thanks!
