Any of you guys know much about 930 turbos?
From 1980-85, Porsche stopped exporting 930's to the US. You could be looking at a grey market car, which have not held their values. The general advice is to avoid grey market cars. You simply don't know what has been done to the car to get it to pass inspection.
Porsche brought back the 930 in 1986. The most desirable 930 would be the 1989 model with its G50/50, five speed transmission. All previous models had a four speed transmission.
All 930's have turbo lag. You can improve the engine's responsiveness by putting on a modern EFI and engine management system. Imagineauto has such a system.

I imported my '81 930, and after a year sold it to a guy in Atlanta who still has it. We both loved it, and it was not a problem. The Euro cars were better, even in '86. However, after being involved with the importing/federalization process, you need to be careful as there were a lot of shortcuts taken by some people. Even though it may have the releases, the DOT compliance should be looked at closely. For example, the Euro cars didn't have door beams, approved bumpers etc. The decals aren't a big issue, but structural compliance could be.
Cool. I went thru the import process on a 1995 Euro M5 so I am kinda familiar with the process. But each car is different.
This car soe not have CATS so I am sure it will be a trick to get past emissions.

I had an 87 930. 84 is a grey market and is worth approx 20% less. Be careful how it was federalized and the quality of the work. I would stay away from it.
There is a lot of turbo lag my subaru was much faster off the line! However after 3 seconds forget it about it you get pushed back in your seat like nothing else. To get rid of the lag I put a light weight clutch, headers, exhast, new distributor. This made the car more driveable and safer. I almist spun out once when the boost came on and I hit a wet spot at the same time. A dangerous but fun car.
