Amberectomy? Is it possible?

I have a 1999 996. Can I perform an amberectomy on these taillights and headlights? Please advise, I do not want to get in there and mess things up.

If you want a more updated and unified look for the taillights, another budget alternative would be to spray red tint spray or use transparent red vinyl film to cover up the amber section.

I don't think you can remove the amber for that headlight. It is one solid unit. You have the old Boxster style lights. If you have the headlight( pic below), You can remove it thru the bulb socket hole with a soldering iron. Your only choice is to tint/smoked that area like alpine003 suggested. Or buy the LED one which cost an arm & leg

Check out the wheeler dealer where they did a 986 Boxster. I believe you need to swap the front headlight setup and then rears go with aftermarket LED tails.

Actually someone discovered the amber part only sits on the top layer and can literally be sanded off. It's a lot of work to get it to look perfect but there's been a few guys on the Boxster forums that's already done it.

that or just buy upgraded litronics with clear amber bulb. you can upgrade your washer system to include headlight washer as well but that is a bunch of parts for you. rear taillights are readily available from 300 set up to 900 that are tinted led plug and play with no resistors needed external to make work. just all depends on what you are willing to pay to get the look you want.
