Mmmm.... tasty headers
You guys aren't going to believe this.
25-30 HP to the wheels at 5K
10-11 at peak to the wheels.
i think they got it nailed with these headers. i wouldn't have believed it if i hadn't seen it myself. not to mention they fit perfect.
i will post the charts when i get them. i need the raw files from the dyno so i can screen shot it.

they didn't send the charts properly so i'll have to get them in the am when they open. i'll post them up as soon as i get them.
i still can't believe these actually put up the advertised numbers.

Sounds nice. These are magic numbers compared to all other mods I´ve seen so far. If a simple header swap could give me 28 WHP (30+ engine HP) at 5k rpm I would buy this product in a second!
However, as a mechanical engineer and journalist who used to race and test motorcycles for a living I may be a bit hard to convice...
I would love to be wrong (!), but what do these guys know that has eluded everybody else, including Porsche?....
brgs,

brgs,
tell them deputydog sent you!
i can't say where i heard it, but i know two people that dyno'd the fabspeeds and came up with pretty much nothing. i don't have any personal experience with them though, so I can't say for sure. i know the fabspeed is quality stuff.
i'm still shocked at how much hp these things gained at the wheels. it's just amazing what some R&D can do on an exhaust.
with regards to the sound... let's just say under WOT, it's a bit on the noisy side. perfectly normal around time, but when under WOT it's a totally different sound. the headers added a raspyness to the previous note. i don't totally love the sound, but i'm not a fan of race exhausts either.
no resonance or anything unusualy when cruising around town or on the highway. i would say that the exhaust is probably 20% noisier under full throttle, which was already a bit on the noisy side with my cargraphic export exhaust.
this is easy power for the money guys. there is a dip in power from 3-4K vs the stock headers, but then it completely takes over from around 4K to redline. from what i've been told, you can't have it both ways and you've got to pick one or the other. suits the supercharger nicely as i dont' start building boost till 3.5K.

very cool deputy.. it's also cool to see folks taking up with their enthusiasm on this stuff
they look sorta like fabspeeds and schnells but different too. The collector is. What's the ID and OD on those?
Also depending upon the lenght you _may_ loose a bit of TQ but so what
It'll only be down low anyways...

Glad you got little more power Dog, but it is extremely unlikely you increased power by that much. (not that the numbers matter anyway) Don't forget that it was 10 degrees cooler today than when you did your last dyno which would give you more power anyway. Like I said many times before, performance is all that matters anyway. Have you gotten your car to hit 100 mph in less than 10 seconds yet? How much faster or slower is the car now with the new headers, than before.
1999: You think I would post numbers like that without being able to back them up???
Just to ward off the nay sayers (namely you
), I did a before run 30 mins before I had the headers done. Drove down the street, mounted the headers up, came right back up and threw it on the same dyno. Doesn't get much better than that. I'm not scared to spend a hundred dollars to find out if a 4 figure piece of equipment works or not
By the way, I went to a different dyno shop this time per the advice of the guy who installed the headers (he does a lot of high HP mercedes). He used to use the shop I went to the first time, but since getting into the blown SLK market, he found the shop I went to yesterday to be far more accurate on high HP cars. They are also using a dynojet dyno, but theirs is a model with a much heavier drum. The numbers he gets there are spot on with what they should be on his Kleiman (Kleimans sp?) packages. On a side not, he's got these little SLK's making 480 to the wheels and supposedly breaking into the 11's.
In a nutshell, it made the power I'm posting and what the builder advertised. GaryFL was there and saw it himself so I've got a witness from the board. Well, Gary's been banned from here but you can catch him on the other forums
Everybody in the shop was amazed. Suncoast just happens to make a great set of headers. They spent a lot of time cutting and welding to come up with this setup. Two months on the dyno with the same 996. I got almost the exact same results as their NA car dynos so it wasn't my SC that made the difference either.
As I mentioned in my other post, there is a slight power dip from around 3-4, then it totally takes over till redline. Typical exhaust tuning tradeoff. Got to give some from somewhere to get some from somewhere else. The car never really had any power under 4K anyway. Same thing after the SC install. After 4K is a different story.
Sharky: I haven't a clue as to the dimensions. Unfortunately they're already mounted up. I can probably ask the builder today though.

maybe. i know the parts gm over there that designed these. i'm sure i could talk him into something good if you got at least five of you together. i know what cost is on them and it's actually a pretty smoking deal right now with their sale price.
i heading by the dyno shop on the way to work to get those raw dyno files. i put the dyno jet software on my pc so i can show the HP variations and screen shot it.

Did they disconnect the battery when they put the headers in?
