Sell 996 for a Mini Cooper S ??

Hi Everyone,

Am I nuts to sell my 2003 C2 for a new Cooper S ? I guess I feel that way or I wouldn't be asking.

The Cooper S is a nice little car with a great resale value. I can trade my 996 even up and a 24 month lease on Cooper S with no money down is $450 Vs. $990 for the P-car.

Curious to see your thoughts.

Thanks.

if u're doing for the money reason then of course it makes sense. Mini holds amazing resale value & probably u'll have the most fun in that budget. i had a trick out Cooper S it was totally blast to drive but it's not something u can compare to ur C2. i'm trying to avoid '' the Mini is not Porsche'' talk because that's irrelevant. for the $ point of view u can't go wrong.

So you perfer a Mini? If so, please trade the 996 so it'll have a rightful owner. If you want something that holds value, get a Prius or Civic Hybrid.

If you're doing it to save money and still have a fun car, the answer is no you are not crazy.

For all other variations of the trade, the answer is YES!

Agreed with the above.... Seems like money is the issue here, so trade it.

If it isn't about the money, then you'd be crazy to put a mini S and a 03 Carerra on the same level

Lightbulb Mini Cooper S

I must say, this little car is a blast to drive although it is not a porsche. But with its european engineering and the top quality mods i put in it, it is almost as quick as the C2. I have never put this car on the track or abuse it in anyway. Please help me spread the word if you know of anyone looking for a fun little car. Thanks

Well naturally the Mini is no comparison to the C2. A couple of the responses here sounded like I feel the Mini is a better car performance wise. Obviously in the horsepower arena alone 320hp to 168 is far from an even playing field. Not to mention other areas.

Yes money is a HUGE factor since I am looking to secure real estate very soon and my thoughts are this: Get out of the 996 with no negative, buy a Mini with great resale...infact #1 for 3 years in a row. Have a $450 payment for a year or so then dump it with little loss and get back into a new P-car.

Yes......No???

I say go for it you can always get another 911 later on, but also look at other cars in the price range. But the mini is pretty fun car, no doubt

I don't know about real estate in NC but it's pretty flat and even regressing in NorCal. If you are buying real estate for the long run or for yourself to enjoy (not as an investment property), I'd say it's probly a smart move trading the car.

Of many sporty cars, I'd never own a Mini. It looks too girly to me and I never like the looks. I would probly get an Evo or RSX or A3 instead. Just my opinion though.

I'd say go for it then... Do what makes you happy.

I don't mean to sound rude, but everytime I see a mini I think its a girls car. Maybe it's because my gf drives a mini convertible, but I think the lines of the car are very feminine. Although I know its a blast to drive, but still, I don't think I would get a mini to use as a single and only car.... IMHO

Any time you buy and trade in a car you lose about 5k on the transaction. There is no way going to a mini is going to 'save' you money. The only money you'll save is monthly.

I had a ton of fun driving a friend's Mini S w/ lowered suspension and a smaller pulley in the Smokey Mountains. It is what it is. A small fun car. As for it being girly, some people don't own a car to make themselves feel masculine.
