I had FabSpeeds on my 2000 996 and loved them. They're still running strong on a friend's '01 996. Fun DIY, too.

If you just want a little louder than stock, get GHL. Fabs are a lot more aggressive. FWIW a '03 996 and an '03 996 C4S have the same mufflers, the tips are different on the 's' to accomadate the wide body.

Fabs!

Great sound and fine quality at a good price.
But don´t count on a power gain. And they weigh about the same as OE despite smaller size. Would buy again, no question!

Sorry to differ, but they are exactly the same, in fact the pn ( for the actual muffler)is the same. The only difference is the tail pipe length at the efferent tube. I have a set on my garage floor, they are identicle in everyway to any other 996 muffler I've seen.
Why do you think they are different?

03 996 Muffler 996 111 131 58
03 C4S Mffler 996 111 131 64

I have both mufflers taken directly off from the factory. Part number of the stock cars are different and the also sound different. C4S is a less restrictive muffler.

99, I don't want to get into a pissing contest with you, there is no difference in the mufflers. The pn's are different bc the exit pipes have to be different in a wb car and they have ss tips, that's it. Joe Fabiani at Fabspeed has cut open both c2 and c4s mufflers, they are exactly the same inside.
Not sure where you're getting your info, perhaps you would care to post it, but it's my opinion that they are exactly the same. If you think they're so great, you can buy my set in the garage. I'm sure if they were 'higher flowing' porsche would have charged me more for them when I bought the car, can't see them giving anything away, and they didn't.

have you guys seen fabspeed's claims on their mufflers? it sounds a little riddiculous. i really like their stuff and the quality is top notch, but they're claiming something like 10 HP. come on....

i have the cargraphic "export" and love it. the sound is fantastic. i vote for the cargraphic or the fabspeeds.

Joe's do show a 10hp bump, it's a fact. I think they're way better than ANYTHING else on the market, that goes for his headers too.

of course joe's dyno's show that

has anyone on here actually dyno'd them??? i don't believe anything till a customer takes it to their own dyno and does before and afters.

this stuff is always grossly exagerated. i think fabspeed makes a great product, and i'll buy a set tomorrow if somebody (6speed member not affiliated with fabspeed) can show me an indepent dyno sheet with those numbers. most manufacturers are pretty honest that mufflers are just for sound and maybe a couple HP.

what is it that they're doing special over the other 50 muffler manufacturers for the 996???

What they're doing special is building a high quality, racing proven setup.
Go to his site under mufflers exposed, you'll see, you'll be a believer.

i have. nobody gets 10 rwhp out of mufflers though. unless it's a turbo. i'm not saying it's not great stuff. i really like their products. top notch and they look the dog's danglies

if someone can show me an independent dyno with an addition of 10 rwhp, i'll buy a set immediately.

let's see those dynos!

i'd love to see an independent test on their headers too!
