Porsche maintenance intervals & common failure items?? LONG

1. what are porsche recommended intervals on these items (for 99 c2)? still learning about porsche world. thx!!

oil change (for a <5k miles/yr car, once a yr or once 2 yrs?)
brake flush
coolant flush
manual tranny fluid
power steering fluid
final drive
microfilters
fuel filters
air filters
4 wheel alignment

2. what are exactly done in these services? some sound redundant. should all be performed?

yearly service
15k
30k
45k etc services
2yr
4yr
8yr
10 yr services

3. what are the most commons "failure" items on early 996s, and how many miles do clutch, brakes, spark plugs, thermostat, water pump, engine drive belts, radiator, fan clutch, suspension parts, battery last? are 996s known to have a weak clutch?

thanks all for insightful help. it's nice to see so many diehard fans. btw i truly believe that w/ reg maintenance and TLC these 996s can last easily up to 150,000 miles or 20 yrs.

A lot of this information is in your manual and the rest I would imagine could be found on a good search in the archives on the various boards you frequent.

Congrats on your btw.

Service Intervals

If you did not get a Maintenance Book with your car you should get one either from a dealer or buy it from Porsche or perhaps MYPorsche website. Contains a good amount of info and answers all of your questions.

Here for service;

http://www.porsche.com/usa/accessori...anceintervals/

The only thing I would say is on oil changes do it every 5K or 5 months.

Here is a good article for monthly checks:

Also, you would use the turkey baster technique to change the PS fluid, you're not replacing it all but most of it. I would register with your local dealer to see if the offer monthly specials. Mine does monthly's $109 oil change, $59.99 brake fluid flush, $79.99 coolant flush, well worth the $$$.

You can get most of it using turkey baster method if you do it a few times.

I just spent $247 to get the fluid changed. My reservoir went dry and did not think it would be that expensive to R & R the fluid. They charged $115 to flush and charged me $132.50 for 5 litres at $26.50 per. I did not think that the system would take 5 litres as the reservoir would only take 1/2 a quart.
