i think the guy was being honest when he said "thousands" if by thousands he was referring to $2k. 2 is more than 1 and is therefore plural as denoted by the "s" after thousand.
and, if i had a "hard on" for the tt cab, there'd be one in my garage.

It's all semantics. Where I come from a couple means 2, a few means 3, and several means 4 or more.
Here's an example:
I expect to lose several thousand dollars when I sell my TT cab!
I hope you get several thousand dollars off list on the CGT because I predict it will depreciate by tens of thousands of dollars!
