Evo V-Flow install

I installed an Evo V-Flow intake yesterday and had an issue with relocating the air pump. Their new bracket did not fit as well as I would have hoped it would considering the cost of the mod - $500.00. The first time I started the car after the install I got a high pitched whine from the pump which I assumed was because the bracket was coming into contact with the sheet metal. I took it back off and adjusted it a bit, but it really just doesn’t fit right. The whine subsided after the car warmed up and the RPMs dropped. This morning I started the car and didn’t hear the whine. I checked the pump and it felt like it was not spinning. Did it burn out? No CEL, so I guess I’m just paranoid?

On the plus side, the car drives fine and the sound coming from that thing is positively intoxicating when I wind it out. Seems a bit faster too. As soon as I get a chance I’ll install the headers and the exhaust and then have the GIAC flash done. Should be a whole new car by then. I’ll get it on the dyno and see if the numbers support the feel. But, it really doesn’t matter to me what the numbers tell. As long as my senses are satisfied, I’m happy.

Anyone else have a problem with the air box install, specifically the air pump? All in all it was a pretty simple mod.

John, do you know if the bracket you got was specifically for the year of your car? Depending on the year the brackets are a bit different

Hmm well looking at the pix it does look correct. I mean the relocation is "tight" but it does fit. On the whine.. some just whine more than others I just did a 99 here today but obviously didn't need to relocate the pump but man was it a noisy one!

Thanks, Alex...

The whine is gone now. It must have been that the bracket was touching the sheet metal. It was only that first start up after the install.

I have to say, I love this mod. Even if the difference I perceive is placebo effect, it still looks cool, and I’m digging the noise it makes racing toward redline. Whoever it was that coined the phrase, “an on ramp is a terrible thing to waste,” must have had one of these things.

I have to admit, when I did this mod I really did feel a difference. Not earth shattering or anything but it did get up and go a little quicker.

Know anyone who wants to buy a tricked out HD fatboy?
