Lower car, 19" wheels or both?

Cars like AMG ETR's, RDH, Gary(FL) have either been lowered, have 19" rims or both (and they look incredible!). I see the PSS9 Bilsteins coilovers are very popular but are around $2000 in parts alone not to mention the 8-10 hours for install.

19" rims of any quality are going to be in the $4-5K range I am guessing not to mention the labor with tires, mount and dismount.

So if you do both we're talking anywhere from $8-10K. Is this a realistic estimate or are there options I have not considered?

You can get 19" SSR GT3 for less than 4-5K...
I have both on my car and it looks SWEEET (I did not lower as much as other members though cause the roads in Boston arent that great)

I did both and didnt spend that amount that u specified....I have SSR GT3s and H and R coilovers....They ride and look fantastic, and I havent had the need to adjust the shock valving. The 2nd generation of coilovers are noise free and very streetable, but love to be driven hard. I was more concerned with ride, and its perfect...even in the crappiest of streets in San Francisco...

I went with the Euro springs and shocks as I do not track my car and did not want to be any lower to navigate the streets. With the T/A front I could not imagine it being any lower and not repainting it every 2 months... I guess I just need to learn to drive like Duane....

i'm new to pcar world and still having a hard time adjusting to eyewatering prices on aftmkt parts.. eg $5k for a f##king front bumper? at that price it should be made of solid gold and suck yer **** every night..

anywya, if u wanna keep it (relatively) cheap, go w/ 19" setup and just get lowering springs. and please no obnoxious 3" drops. just nice 1 in drop would be fine. there are some high quality springs out there. goodluck!

Thanks for the input. I already have the M030 Euro springs installed but it still looks gappy between the tire and the wheel well. I guess I need to get some better pricing on the 19" I like to narrow it down.

i have heard that 19" ride much rougher than 18". Any thoughts? Are any brands of wheels better than others? I like HRE and TechArt as well as a few others...ideas?

The PSS-9's were the best mod I could have done to the car....if you think your car handles good now....LOOK OUT!!!!!!! They make the car look great with the lowered stance!!! They would look great with your carrera lightwieghts...19's without coils will look like a 4x4 as shown below
Before Coils with 19's:

The FVD PSS-9's:

After Coilovers:

IMO if your gunna do 19's you gotta back it up with the coils (or springs)
Regards,
Evan
