Clockel is infamous around these parts
Single Click Starter

That is it. I put motor and gearbox back in, new IMS, rear main, and a bunch of other goodies and car drove great for a couple weeks. Then got up to go play some golf, single click. No multi-click like a battery, just a single. So, I bought a new Bosch starter and put that in. Still same issue. Jumping does not work and the motor spins freely. Roll starting the car it starts fine. No codes, nothing.

Thoughts? I have been searching about without much to find. Only thought is maybe Cam or Crank sensor, or a bad ground or something. 02 C2 manual.

Thanks.

Solved. Bypassed starter and found even though the strap was "tight" that the nut was a bit loose. Cheers.

Glad you got that figured out. I was going to suggest a faulty camshaft/crankshaft position sensor could be culprits, as they can prevent the ECU from syncing ignition, especially post-rebuild where wiring or sensors might have been disturbed.
