Auto dimming mirror issue

I have the auto dimming mirror (has the sensor/eye on the bottom of the glass) but it doesn't work.

Are these known to fail? Is there a fix? Looking for ways to fix other than taking it to the dealer.

mirror

There is a real tiny button that you can not see on the bottom edge of the mirror. Also on the back side of the mirror if I remember correctly there is another button that adjust the intnesity of the LED that lights the keyhole

Okay checked it out yesterday. I have no switch, button or anything else on the mirror that would be an on/off switch.

Any suggestions?

No...I'm not sure but it does have the sensor in the glass at the bottom of the mirror. So wouldn't that mean mine are self dimming?

Surprise

That is your rain sensor for your winshield wipers. A round disk attached to the winshield right?

Huh?! No....my inside rear view mirror has a sensor on the glass. It's an oval sensor at the bottom of the glass right about the trim piece.
