Arrow Looking for inexpensive clear headlamps. where ? (1999 996)

Hi guys,
I just got a call from the shop saying that the lamps we waited on arriving for 2 weeks are NOT clear !! They have the yellow stuff below. My car is a 1999 996, so I need the OLDER STYLE (like boxster) clear headlamps.
I'm thinking of two options
a) clear, regular (non-lith) headlamps
b) clear lithtronic upgrade headlamps (if near/below $1000 mark)
Do you guys know of some places (online/SouthernCalifornia?) which sell CLEAR headlamps for (relatively) CHEAP ? Any of you wanting to sell your older headlamps after an upgrade ?
Thanks in advance !

Tried eBay, brandywine, sunset and suncoast. So far the best bet for regular lamps is eBay and for the lithtronic upgrade its suncoast. The liths are ~$400 more ... hmm ...

But I'm surprised nobody here is ready to sell their clear halogen lamps ... people ... please upgrade to those lovely lithtronic lamps. Then sell me your old halogen lamps for cheap. !

Seriously, I guess very few people have done the regular -> lithtronic upgrade ... I've tried renntech, rennlist and 6speedonline ....

I also found this stuff about the 996 vs boxster lights (halogen, non-lithtronic/non-xenon)...

I found out that they are identical in fit and electricals. BUT

996
===
- has a diamond pattern on the inner silver polished surface. (thanks toolpants)
- has an auto-leveling system so that the lights always shine as intended, not up or down when you suddenly accelerate or brake

Boxster
=====
- has a line pattern on the inner silver reflective surface (thanks toolpants)
- don't have the 996 auto-leveling system inside

Thanks
Sid

Whoa ! Thanks Paul. I owe you one ! Pioneer is great - so thanks for that word. Should I call Shaun to follow up ?? We should meetup during the next PCA-SD Region event ..

I'm just so damn anxious to get my car back .. its been 3 weeks and it feels like a year. My girlfriend gets jealous of my attachment to "a car".

In terms of getting the car back, I feel I'm at the finish line but I'm not allowed to cross over it ... damn these headlights ! AAgh.

Cheers !!

Actually I don't think that is correct. All Factory installed Lits have the auto-leveling system. The 996 turbo has a slightly different pattern on the inner silver surface, the normal non-teardrop 996 and 986 boxster litronics are identical.

Lithtronics ... yeah they have the autoleveling system. But I'm comparing the halogen lights, not lithtronics. I'm certain they are different. Toolpants on renntech.org has a photograph showing the differences side by side between 996 and 986 (they also have different part numbers).

But yeah, largely nobody would notice the difference. Now ... some nice, cheap, clear headlights please .
