New Tires....
New Tires....
Where should I start....
I have Pirelli Pzero Rosso tires on my car now
225/40 ZR18 N4 --FRONT
265/35 ZR18 N4 --REAR
The front tires are practically new while the rear tires are shot (all were new 13K miles ago).
Question is: Should I just buy new rears, or all around? I would prefer to get a different brand. Any suggestions?
BTW 1999 C2
Thanks

I will have the same situation in a few months. I'm gonna replace the rears until all the tires need replacement, and then, perhaps, go to another brand. I have never had a P car without Pirelli tires. My wifes Boxster S has the Michelins. They seem to be wearing a little better than mine (approximately the same miles)
I am leaning to the Pilot PS2 tires...I havent had a problem with the Pirelli tires and I would assume that tread life for a high performance car would be in the 10-12K mile range (regular highway driving).
Will it even make a difference changing brands (tread life) considering that I do not track my car?

Goodyear Eagle F1's
I have had 3 sets of Rosso's to date and although pleased with the ride and grip, the lack of wear is wearing on me!
Today I have an appt to install the new Goodyear Eagle F1's (265/35/18's and 225/40/18's). Although this isn't a Porsche approved N rated tire, the specs, customer reviews, and pro reviews highly recommend this new tire. My understanding is that Porsche gives manufacturers this N rating approval on tires, which is done after the fact and with "money" certification. After a discussion with a dealership it was stated that as long as the tire is properly speed rated and sized then there is no issue. At one time sidewalls were made stiffer for the N rating, but this is no longer the case with modern ultra performance rubber. In addition to the longer wear and matched performance to the Rosso's, is the ability to outperform other similar tires in the wet which here in Seattle is a plus!
For a "budget" tire, the Sumitomos HTRZ II's can be had for a steal...approx $700 for a set of four and they have a 285/30 18 size (P car specific sizing). I was very tempted....but noise was also an issue for me.
Anyway, my 2 cents.....

We just put Bridgestone Potenzas on: totally overheated them at the track, but they're still holding together for street use. So: phenomenal wear, and I must say, I love how they felt at the track -- very progressive.

I am in the same boat as you... Just got some new rears (285's) on my 99 C2 coupe and want to switch up to Mich PS's next time but heard that they don't make it in a 285 yet...
Not sure what I am gonna do in 6 months, but I am over the Rossos'... Not b/c of wear.. As I got 17k miles, 1 auto X and 1 Perf drving school out of them. but b/c of the noise they produce mostly...

well I decided to just replace the rears with the original tires (pirelli Pzero Rosso). I think that it was $635 installed at a local shop. I will be replacing all 4 with something new in about 12k miles
