New Porsche owner!
Hey everyone, I just got my first 2003 Porsche 911 Carrera just last week! I loove it. The only thing that really sucks is that theres a couple problems that came up just a few days ago. The passenger and driver seat wont move forward and backwards anymore. All other functions work. They just stopped working all together. And driver side seat warmer does not work. And I also noticed that a couple days ago when I lock the car, it honked once after locking. But it only did that like 3 times and now its silent again. Lights just blink 3 times. I'm hoping that maybe its just a fuse blown that I need to replace? Pretty ****ty all these problems and Ive only owned that car for a week. I purchased it from a big dealership in Newport Beach, you would think youd get a car with out problems in the first week. I live out in Palm Springs so its not like a cruise down to just have them look at it. Luckly I'm setting up an appointment for them to fix the passenger seat. But everything else I might have to split 50/50. This REALLY sucks. Does any have any suggestions what the problem could be or what I should do? The car only has a 1 month 50/50 warranty on it. Wish I could fix it myself by just changing a fuse. lol. It sounds like an electrical issue.
Is this a car from Newport Beach Porsche?

With the alarm problem; when everything is normal and you set the alarm, you should not hear anything. The lights do flash, I am not sure how many times, but that is all it does, besides locking your doors. if the horn honks, it means one of your "zones" is not secure- ex. window is down, cabriolet top is open, armrest storage area is open, etc... Don;t let them charge you to fix something that is working normal.
Also, i had my seat not go up and down after I bought it, but the motor was still working when I would select either of these two positions. I found a cable under the seat that had pulled out on both ends for the up/down operation. I was able to find the two slots where it shoulg go on each end adn get it to work, but eventually it came out and had it replaced properly.
the drivers side seat warmer,- you may want to check to see if it came unplugged under the seat or on the console where you select it. and hey, do you need the seat warmers out in Palm Springs this time of the year??!?!?! you need seat coolers!!
good luck and enjoy the car!

Hey thanks
Hey I'll definitley check for the cables getting unplugged. Thanks for that useful info! Yeah its too hot for the seat warmer anyways! haha. It just bothers me to know that its not working, lol. I love my car, and its flawed! I gotta fix everything so its perfect! As for pictures, I took a few last night for the first time! I'll get some posted soon. I just tried and discovered I have to resize them all to get them to post.
No I didn't buy the car from Newport Porsche. I noticed people post what they used to have or what they also have in addition to their porsche. I last had a 2003 BMW M3, 2003 Ford Lightning truck, 2002 BMW 540i (Dinan Cold Air Intake package) Loved all them! Except for the Ford, haha. Traded that in for the M3 after owning it for about 7 months.

Checked under seat
Yeah its pretty much impossible to see or even to fit my hand under my seat to check to see if any plugs are loose or undone. Oh well. Guess I will have to wait until it gets to the dealership next week sometime to get them to fix it. I could just imagine the scene someone would make if they were some rich lady from newport or something yelling and screaming how she just bought her car a week ago with all these problems. But I'm just a 24 year old average guy whose just happy to have the car. Not sure if being an ******* will get things done the way I want them to. I have trouble doing that, its just not me. The fact that I'm stuck in a position Im not comfortable in on the drivers side and cant do a damn thing about it is probably the most frustrating thing!

WHERE ARE THE PICS??????
Congrats on the new car - post pics!
Unfortunately, you are not alone on pissy probs with the car.
I bought a 2003 996 Coupe on July 2. It had 14,600 miles and is CPO. Since then, it has been back Every Single Weekend except one (I was out of town that weekend) to get silly-*** items fixed. We're talking front speakers that didn't work, a key that needed to be re-coded, a vanity mirror cover falling off, stuff liek that. Yes, they fixed it, but bringing it back Every Single Weekend is getting real old. It's there now - Friday morning, as I was tooling up an I-95 on-ramp, I got a "oil level failure" indicator as the oil pressure gauge dropped to Zero. I now know what heart failure feels like.
My new mantra is this (feel free to use it) "A Porsche in the dealer's garage is better than a Buick in the driveway"

Warranty
I recently purchased a 2002 Porsche with a little under 30k. Although it had some remaining CPO I picked up an additional warranty of 3 years and 30k for $2000. Seems like some piece of mind, but nothing has gone wrong so far. Think any Porsche dealer will sell you an extended warranty.
