Looking for new Tires for 2001 996 C4

I am looking at putting the Goodyear F1 Eagles on my 2001 996 C4, I have run this before on my SL500 Sport and they were great. I haven't not seen anyone running these on Porsches, all the magizens give them the best all around tire for performance Summer. I live in the Bay Area, CA so the weather is pretty good year round if it rains I drive my other car anyhow. Thanks for your feedback.

F1's are very good on dry and fantastic on wet, but if you track your car, go with S02A's or Rosso's.

interesting.... are pilot sport "RIB" not good for tracking?

I have S02-A and love them.... have had 2 sets and I can recommend them highly...

my next tire will be the TOYO T1-R ... I have a friend who tracks and says its much better than the michelin PS2 !!!

I took a look at the SO2-A...to me the SO2 looks like a better tire. I don't know much about the TOYO T1-R did read up on them they appear to be better than the SO2s. I am looking for dry weather best rated tire I can get for traction I don't care about wear....So if the Eagle F1 don't fit this bill what is the best track/street tire for summer?

The Pilot's tend to wear extremely fast during driving events. Plus, they are super expensive. The Rosso's wear very well at the track, but they lose grip after 7 or 8 laps.

The "A's" are the SO2 replacement. From what I have heard, the best track/street tire is the SO2A. My dealer said they have people who have gotten multiple driving events on a set. They will be next choice after I cook my Rosso's this year.

correct on the nomenclature... I should have mentioned that in my original post... the S02 has been replaced by the S02-A and they are a damn good tire....

but I've been hearing good things about the Toyo T1-R it may be a better tire than the S02-A...

Personally I would forget about the good years and go with the T1-R... especially if price is a factor...

What is the difference between the Pilot Sport 2 and Pilot Sport. Web search shows ~ same price for both?

Thanks again for the quick turn around on the GIAC flash S/W the throttle response does seem to be quicker.....not sure if I notice the HP increase with such a small increase you would need to be a professional driver to really tell the difference. But knowing its more is worth it anyhow, thanks again Alex!

The PS2 is a newer and more aggressive tread pattern- stick with those! Give it a bit of time (50miles or so) to relearn and it'll get better and better. I thought you were a pro driver ? CJV said so!
