996 Muffler bypass pipes

A muffler shop might charge about $50/$75 to make these for me. Anyone else interested in a cheaper alternative to the Fabspeed ones? I think $500 is outrageous and refuse to pay that for something so simple.

To be honest, if the Fabspeed MBP were around $300 I would have ordered them already.

I'm going to the shop I've used for years and have a set made.

Agreed.

My only concern would be the sound. I saw their video and it doesnt seem to bad. Aggressive yet not like the Asian cars........

Comment ont he bypass pipes.

I have them. THey are wickedly loud, but sound so sick. The sound is nothing like the fart cans that most import tuned cars have. The bypass pipes made by Fabspeed are amazing. Agreed that you could get them for cheaper, but I would be worried about the design that you get. Joe, the owner of Fabspeed, makes them with a nice tip and they look all nice and whatnot in chrome.

I understand your initial thoughts and "feelings" here. However, the stubby pipes themselves would seem to be nothing - all the money must be in the tips.
The quality tips (alone) that I have seen seem to run in the $450 - $800 range, so tack a pair of those onto your $75 pipes and you're all set to go.

He hasn't decided yet.. but we drove around a few minutes and I didn't like the sound and vibration in the car.. As it sits idle it does sound mean.. I think it would be cool to have for DE events..

OK if you have heard the Porsche Sport Exhaust.. take that and double it in sound.. sounds real mean when idling.. as soon as you rev it and hit 5K its almost ear piercing

Hmmm...that loud huh? I'm really getting them for DE's but thought "maybe" I might be able to use them for every day.

Guess that should be expected since the mufflers are gone!

Kevin I'm hurt! You never listen to your racing buddy! Did you throw them on Justin's car? No one on this board ever listens when I tell them those things are for track cars. You will get sick of them really quick for daily use. And if you don't your deaf already

I want to be the first to say "I told you so" :P

Kev- see you Sat morning. Maybe I will take you and Toothzilla out to scare you on the track ...Or hell- you can scare me

Nick, for less than a $100, I'm in. I'm assuming this would be without the tips. Were you planning for attaching the stock tips?
