Sunroof problem

I need some help! I have a 99 C2 and my sunroof will close half way then stop/retract. I looked in the "rails" and noticed slight metal shavings. Cleared them out but I still have the problem.

I'm trying to avoid the dealer because of $$$$$$, anyone have any ideas, I hear that it may have to be fixed by taking out the headliner and it is a pain in the a$$... Help

I'm in No. California - Bay Area

Mine actually started doing the same thing maybe one out of every 10 times
I go to close it.
If I "hold" the switch it will close.

Same here. Keep pressure on the button until it's closed all the way.

Funny, I had the same problem and had it corrected last month at the dealer. It's some sort of sunroof clip on either side that broke and weren't under warranty. If I remember right it ran me around 2 hundg.
Seems like an epidemic...

damn, just had the same thing happen to me! A little lube seems to have helped it, but still sounds a little weak.

I had that happen frequently, but I realized that it only happens when im coming up the driveway and i push the sunroof close button. When the car's body flexes when its coming onto the driveway, the sunroof goes back.

Yeah happened to me too. There's a couple of plastic clips on each side and in my case they came out of their normal location and were getting in the way.

As with me - usually one in 20 attempts goes part way and then retracts back. I just try again and it usually works fine. Does anyone have the "clips" part number? Can I see if mine are broken when the roof is open?
