Targa roof and heat

Sorry if this has been covered, I did a search and was unable to find it. I am considering a used 2002 - 2003 Targa. I like its ability to give both the convertible's open air feeling while at the same time being able to have a quieter ride when you would like.

I am San Antonio, and was wondering if I am going to sweat my .... "pants" off in the summer? I was just envisioning sitting in traffic. This would be my first P car, so can anyone with a Targa comment on how well the A/C works, if it is able to keep up with the sun through the panorama roof while sitting in traffic on a hot day?

Thanks for any insight.

Targa & Heat

I can tell you that having gone through one summer, the AC on my 2k2 Targa works much better than my 1989 Speedster (SORRY, I could'nt resist). IMHO the Targa will protect you from all the elements. The retractable roof blind really does help as well as the Factory tint.

However, if I lived as far south as you I would consider a Darker Tint, all around, to "tune" it further if there was any problem with the heat.

Good Luck

I had the same ? before buying my turbo.

My 1999 SL500 had the panorama roof option, sliding shade, great AC and the car was unbearable driving from SF to LA in the summer heat >95.

It felt like I was driving in a greenhouse.

Any targa owners here? I think they are one of the best looking 996s available.

Just get the Cab. I don't think the Targa is any Quieter than the Cab with the top closed. And you get more open air with the cab...............Just a thought, you really can't go wrong with either one.
