Thumbs up European style front license plate

I'd like to get a european style license plate on the front, don't like the rectangular and don't want any issue about not having one. Is this legal and where can I get one made?

03C4S,
They're not legal. According to California law you can only use plates issued by DMV if it's registered in California. Even if it has the same letter and number combination it ain't going to fly.

I'm pretty sure the acid trip has worn off, but I could swear I've seen cars with them on, I think it was bmw.

Nervertheless, tx for the input.

I'm sure you have seen cars with that type of plate. In essence, you can do whatever you like to your car, but you must be prepared for the consequences. You could put those plates on your car and not get a ticket for days, weeks or months, but sooner or later some chippie is going to pinch you

I've seen official california plates that someone had bent back the top and bottom parts of the plate, leaving just the numbers visible. Since the front doesn't have any information on it like registration, would this also be illegal?

Anything you do to modify or alter your plate is illegal. Dude, let it go already.

It is not illegal if you put the california plates on top of the euro plate.. My wife's x5 have this at the back and I used to do this on my m3... For the P Car, no space at the back and better to have no plates in the front

I keep the front licence plate holder on because i've had d_ckheads parallel park and bump into the front so I want something there. I also run no license plate just the holder.
tx for all the input.

It's definitely not legal, but I had one on my VW and I wasn't hassled for it. I think it depends where you live too, since I live in a metro area the cops generally have better things to do.

I wouldnt put one on a Porsche though, the front end is too beautiful to mar with a silly plate.

We have ~ 20 million illegals driving without licenses or insurance
without apparent concern or legal consequence .

Why should I give a rat's *** about what the law thinks I should have on the front of my car? Lol

JCS,
I agree with you 100%. Whether or not you have a front license plate should be at the bottom of the law enforcement barrel.
